Overview


The Mastery Collaborative consists of 42 public middle and high schools across New York City. Schools have joined our community through rolling admissions during the 2014-15, 2015-16, and 2016-17 school years. There are three levels of membership - Living Lab, Active Member, and Mastery Incubator.

Living Lab


Living Lab


MC Living Lab is designed for schools who are implementing a school-wide mastery system. Living Lab schools:

      serve as models for the community and beyond, take on a more active and open-door role that includes visits and sharing of ideas, practices, processes, and resources.

      design, implement, and document work on goals that provide innovative solutions/improvements to aspects of your existing mastery system/practices

      contribute to a library of shared community resources (rubrics, curriculum units, frameworks, grading systems, and the like)

      regularly participate in and lead community events

Active Members


Active Members


Mastery Collaborative Active Membership is designed for schools who are piloting or implementing a mastery system schoolwide or in at least one grade or one department. Active membership schools:

      participate regularly in visits and sharing of ideas, practices, processes, and resources.

      design and implement goals that provide innovative solutions/improvements to aspects of your existing mastery system/practices

      receive 2-3 formal checkins and other ad hoc support from the MC program team

      have access to/contribute to a library of shared community resources (rubrics, curriculum units, frameworks, grading systems, and the like)
